Information
Jamison Fawkes, more commonly known as Junkrat by just about anyone who knows—or infamously knows OF—him, is an excitable, manic fool with a fixation on explosives and money, not to mention a desire to cause destruction in his wake. He is not the type of person that would be considered intelligent or thorough. More extroverted than introverted, Junkrat is a chatterbox that doesn't hesitate to interact with a legitimately intimidating Roadhog in the casual, friendly way that he does. This doesn't mean he isn't without fear, as he very clearly gets nervous and paranoid in the right situations, including the one that prompted Roadhog to interact with him in the first place. His talkative nature gets him in trouble in Junkertown when he won't shut up about alluding to a "treasure" he's found, winding up attracting the attention of quite a few opportunistic people in the culture. Again, his impulsive need to talk ruins his grand plan to get back at the Junker Queen, when he reveals both himself and Roadhog's true identities prematurely during their plan.
Roadhog is not only Junkrat's partner in crime, but in Junkrat's eyes he is his best friend. They interact with a friendly ease, despite Roadhog's annoyance and exasperation at Junkrat's hyperactive antics. Insulting Roadhog's weight can get an extremely strong and defensive reaction out of Junkrat, as shown in one of his comics where the insult almost drove Junkrat to cause even MORE destruction than what they'd already managed to do. Junkrat very much requires a babysitter because of his level of energy, and luckily Roadhog fills that role as well, as begrudging as it is. Overall however, despite Roadhog's stoic opposite nature the duo come across as a platonic Bonnie and Clyde.
The mania that seems to make up much of Junkrat's personality is wound tight. He's prone to breaking out into peels of high pitched, maniacal laughter that honestly give him an air of not quite being all there. It's an unbridled sort of glee that's animated in not only as part of his personality but also his physical mannerisms. He is very animated and borderline dramatic, despite being able to be calm in certain conversations and interactions. He's just very high energy and overall excitable, for the most part. The Australian Outback is a lawless wasteland, one whose culture has very definitely shaped Junkrat's personality into the manic whirlwind that it is. It doesn't help that he may have gotten a little irradiated thanks to the omnium fusion core's explosion.
Junkrat is also fairly impatient, reacting poorly to situations and events that slow him or his ill thought out plans down. Despite Roadhog's silent encouragement to think things through during their return to Junkertown, Junkrat initially reacts with frustration until he catches on to what Roadhog's pointed stare means. Several voice lines also reiterate Junkrat's impatient nature, particularly when he's trying to rush others to "hurry up" or "c'mon", to get to the action and the payoff. He's after the thrill and the gratification that comes with accomplishing things he wants, and that's either destruction or money. The two often come hand in hand when he's involved.
Junkrat thinks of himself highly, or at least thinks of himself as smart enough to come up with a workable plan. Unfortunately, he isn't detail oriented, too enthusiastically wrapped up in the idea to really work through the plan. Several times during his idea to "double cross" the Junker Queen, Roadhog has to stop him and wordlessly help him work through tweaking very important details so the plan is actually a success rather than getting them killed. This prompting does work and gets him to thread his thoughts together to come up with an idea that works rather than a hastily crafted concept shoved into existence just so he can get to the part he's anticipating.
If it wasn't clear by now, Junkrat is a very chaotic, destructive person, and he revels in it. He carries a smell of burnt hair, and he's not particularly clean. It's not that he doesn't appreciate personal hygiene, it is just not one of his highest priorities or focuses. He is also the reason he is missing a leg; the result of an ill timed explosion of his own making. How he lost his arm is unclear, but it's possible that that too, was his own doing. He takes particular glee in creating and setting off explosives, illustrated by his rather orgasmic reaction to lighting the fuse on the explosives used on the cart in his and Roadhog's animated short.
Unfortunately, Junkrat harbors some very serious and deep seated resentment and prejudice against omnics. This is a direct result of the events of the Omnic Crisis, and how those issues unfolded for the people of the Australian Outback. Omnics and similar sorts of beings can expect to be treated much more poorly than those of any other life form. Though he's never interacted with them in canon, characters like Zenyatta and Orisa would have a harder time interacting with Junkrat in a positive way at least initially because of their being omnics. He also has a great disdain for "suits"—people that he sees as sitting up on high looking down at the little people and taking advantage of them. He sees himself as a freedom fighter after all, sticking up for the little man. He's also just a straight up criminal, considering the world wide heist he and Roadhog managed to pull off. His morals are dubious at best.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
here. None of these are supernatural in origin, and generally imply an extensive knowledge (read: obsession) with explosives. Otherwise he's a normal human being minus a couple of limbs.
